Heklucht, type Ypenburg
Krijn Christiaansen and Jeroen Bruls
Commissioned by Projectbureau Ypenburg, Stroom Den Haag
Heklucht, has been conceived for an art project in Ypenburg (a newly build neighbourhood in the Netherlands). Thirty-five products were placed on the border of the public- and private space of thirty-five houses. The goal of the project is to stimulate interaction between neighbours, while pumping up the tyres of their bicycles. The hurdle is made out of polished stainless steel. Because of this, it shines like a jewel on the grey pavement. The product won the Dutch Design Awards in 2006 and is taken in production.
